SHOPPING DURING COVID-19

Maintaining a fashion blog during the pandemic is a challenging task to accomplish. I was deprived of any opportunity to visit shopping malls or outlets. Basically, the ideas and plans that I kept in mind never got a chance to be implemented into real life. However, online shopping seemed to be a good alternative for desperate shopaholics, including myself. In my previous post I mentioned some brands that provide good customer service, no matter what.

Today is a new chapter because shopping malls are officially opened!

Yes, it happened, I went to the Vaughan Mills Shopping Centre this morning. Would it be weird if I said that I forgot that feeling of just walking around with hangers in my hands? It sounds tricky but I really missed these times. Of course, you need to follow some simple rules like staying in a line and sanitizing your hands before going inside the store. One thing that I liked was seeing people complying with regulations and respecting each other.

Now, let’s move to the most important part — actual shopping. I can honestly, say that my expectations were set a little too high. It’s been a long time since I have shopped conventionally. It’s like having a cheat meal after a long diet. While at Vaughn Mills I got tired of waiting in lines and not having access to fitting rooms. As a result, the only difference I’ve noticed between real and online shopping is that you don’t need to wait for a delivery.

To be honest, I recommend visiting the shopping mall only if you really miss this experience and tired of deliveries. Otherwise, online shopping is pretty much the same.

  1. Speaking of online shopping during the COVID-19 pandemic… My friends and myself noticed that we were constantly online shopping for the things we would usually get from the store. Somehow people never stopped buying things even in such circumstances. It was not only an essential stuff. A friend of mine, who moved to California from NYC in March ( meaning ran away from virus disease outbreak) never stopped online shopping. The doorman of her NYC apartment kept getting tons of boxes and packages for 5 months. My point is that coping with stress, anxiety and fear can be overwhelming. Everyone dealing with these strong feelings in a different ways. Online shopping might be one of them. People are looking for ways to distract themselves while buying useless stuff. Hearing about the pandemic repeatedly can be upsetting. I guess shopping is the least harmful addiction you can get.

    1. You are 100% right. It was the only way to bring me be back to my routine. While buying all these clothes you feel like nothing has changed.
